Public finances
The Public Finances programme produces independent forecasts of Dutch public finances (expenditures and revenues) in both the short and medium term. It also studies long-term public finances, with the challenge of including more aspects of general welfare. In addition, the programme certifies the projections of fiscal measures made by the Ministry of Finance. The research focuses on anchors for budgetary policy and its intergenerational redistribution effects, as well as on the analysis of public debt sustainability in financial markets.

Growth picks up, public debt increases
The economy is on the rise again, with projected growth of 0.6% in 2024 and 1.6% in 2025. An increase in median purchasing power means that the loss of purchasing power inflicted by the inflation shock has been reversed. The budget deficit in the coming years will be significantly higher than last year. →
