A long-term scenario study for the Dutch economy

In cooperation with several other institutes CPB is currently working on a new long-term scenario study for the Dutch economy.

The core themes of this study are the environment, land requirements, energy and transport. A first aim of the study is to analyse the bottlenecks that will arise in the sphere of these core themes given 'business as usual' policies. Three equally plausible scenarios will be constructed, which will provide a relevant range of the extent of the bottlenecks. International economic and political developments, demography, social and cultural factors and technological and economic trends are the key determinants of the scenarios. Also broad policy options will be outlined and analysed in terms of their ability to alleviate the bottlenecks.
