Hybrid seminar: Attitudes towards climate policies and their distributive effects
On Thursday February 8th, 2024, Thomas Douenne (UVA) will give a presentation titled: "Attitudes towards climate policies and their distributive effects." To attend this seminar, please send an e-mail to Simone Pailer (S.Pailer@cpb.nl). You will be registered at the reception or will receive a Webex invitation via Outlook.
Thomas Douenne will discuss his recent work that elicit people's attitudes toward climate policies, particularly carbon taxation and its distributive effects. In a published paper on France (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ecolecon.2019.106496), he examines perceptions and values over climate change and a carbon tax, given the Yellow Vests crisis that halted the planned increase of a carbon tax. In a new international study (https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4448523), he explores attitudes towards carbon taxation and various policy designs which tackle distributive effects and help poorer households in the energy transition.
