CPB World Trade Monitor February 2025

World Merchandise trade growth was zero in February 2025 compared to the previous month, following an increase of 0.7% in January. This is evident from the monthly CPB World Trade Monitor. On the import side the United States shows a small decrease (-0.4%). This means that the imports remain at the higher level following the increase of last month (+12.2%). The United Kingdom has a month-on-month increase of 4.2%. On the export side there is a substantial increase found for Japan (+7.4%). This follows a decrease of 3.1%.

Developments in global international trade and industrial production February 2025:

  • * World trade volume remained unchanged month-on-month (growth was 0.7% in January, initial estimate 1.1%).
  • * World trade momentum was 1.5% (non-annualised; 0.9% in January, initial estimate 1.0%).
  • * World industrial production increased 0.8% month-on-month (having decreased 0.2% in January, initial estimate -0.1%).
  • * World industrial production momentum was 1.1% (non-annualised; 0.8% in January, initial estimate 0.9%).

The next release of the CPB World Trade Monitor is scheduled for 23 May 2025, 15:00 hours.

The monthly CPB World Trade Monitor is an instrument with which CPB monitors the development of world trade and is published on behalf of the European Commission. It takes two months before the figures are available. The next CPB World Trade Monitor for the reporting month of March 2025 will be published on May 23rd 2025.
