Wealth, gifts, and estate planning at the end of life
We show that gifts made to heirs before death are substantial and highly responsive to taxation. Therefore, characterising them and understanding their determinants is crucial for tax design. We use high-quality, intergenerationally-linked data on wealth, gifts, and medical expenses from the Netherlands. →

Ongelijkheid en herverdeling
De herverdeling van inkomens tussen Nederlandse huishoudens vindt vooral plaats door overheidsuitgaven zoals toeslagen en bijstand, en veel minder door belastingheffing. Ook blijkt dat hogere inkomens geen groter deel van hun inkomen afdragen aan belastingen dan lagere inkomens. De bovenste 1% van de huishoudens betaalt gemiddeld zelfs minder belasting dan de overige huishoudens. →
