This methodology estimates, for example, how much steel the Dutch car industry imports from the United Kingdom, where it was produced Chilean iron ore. Such analysis aids in risk assessment, linking each step in the supply chain to risk indicators such as a highly concentrated world market of that product. It could indicate that a few steps backwards in your supply chain, a specific product and/or a specific country could be a vulnerability. This method also helps estimating tariffs along the supply chain based on product-specific detail. Possibly, a Dutch tariff on the steel plates from the United Kingdom on top of a UK tariff on imports on iron ore from Chile.
